Digital Citizenship

What is Digital Citizenship?

Assignment 1: Visit my delicious page , and read at least one article that is tagged as "digital citizenship." Show me what you learned through this article in one of the following ways. Your creation should show that you clearly understand what digital citizenship is. Pick a tool you are already comfortable using. You will drop this in my drop box in the appropriate class period.
  • A word picture made using Wordle. Please include at least 40 words that paint an accurate picture of what you read, showing your understanding of digital citizenship. Take a screen shot of the wordle and drop the image in my dropbox.
  • A digital collage using copyright free images from Creative Commons. (Be sure to cite images on a separate page or at the bottom of your page.)
  • A detailed summary and reflection of the article you read.
  • An oral summary and reflection recorded in Garage Band.
  • Some other representation of your knowledge approved by the teacher.
*Be sure to include a link to the article somewhere on your document.

Assignment 2: In your small groups, choose one person to create a Google doc. That person should share the Google doc with everyone in your group, including the teacher (bdetwiler@cypanthers.org and mkitzmiller@cypanthers.org). Please, name it Your Names Internet Safety (display the names of each group member). On this document, click the "Comments" button on the top right of the page and choose "Show comment stream." If someone makes a parent post, others can comment on it. As a group, choose one article from my delicious page tagged as "Internet safety" to read. As you are reading, post your comments using the Google discussion. You will discuss the article as you are reading and after you finish reading. The discussion will be online only, no verbal communication (I know... tough to do!). During your discussion be sure to mention what you think is the most important point in the article. Also, share three other valuable points from the article. Use the MVP/VIP formats (most valuable point/very important points).

Assignment 3: Choose an article on my delicious page tagged as "facebook." Be prepared to discuss this as a class. After you read, visit our class blog. Post a comment to the facebook article assignment. Also, be prepared to talk about what you read.
